Drug Abuse & Alcohol Abuse Disorders

Drug Addiction

It's a disease that causes people to use drugs in a harmful way. The reason for this is because the addiction changes the way your brain works, creating new paths that make you want to use drugs more and more. This addiction can have serious consequences on your physical, social, and mental health. If you are addicted to drugs, you may experience physical withdrawal symptoms when you don't have the drug, and you may have obsessive cravings and use the drug uncontrollably. This can lead to problems at work or school, isolation, financial troubles, and difficulties in relationships with friends and family. It can even lead to depression and suicide. Drug addiction affects every aspect of your life, so it's important to seek treatments that aim for long-term abstinence from drugs.

Benefits of IV Infusions

Several recent systematic reviews and trials have explored the potential of infusions of this safe anaesthetic drug in treating substance use disorders. Some studies have shown that it can improve abstinence rates, decrease drug use, and reduce cravings for substances such as alcohol, cocaine, and opioids. However, the evidence is limited by small sample sizes, a lack of placebo-controlled trials, and short follow-up periods.

Alcohol Use Disorder

Alcoholism affects many people. It has two parts: dependency and addiction. Dependency means your body needs alcohol, and you feel bad when you don't have it. Addiction means your brain changes because of alcohol and makes you want to drink more to get the same good feelings. Alcohol addiction can take over your brain, while dependency takes over your body. Some signs of alcohol addiction are: blackout drinking, not being able to control how much you drink, feeling like you need alcohol, getting the shakes without it, needing alcohol to start your day, and needing more alcohol to feel the same effects. Alcohol addiction can seriously harm you and the people around you, and it's not something that just goes away by itself.

Benefits of IV Infusions

Combining this infusion with motivational enhancement therapy has shown potential in reducing alcohol consumption in those with alcohol use disorder, and may also be useful for managing alcohol withdrawal syndrome and reducing benzodiazepine requirements. Further research is needed to determine optimal dosing, modes of administration, and effective forms of adjunctive psychotherapeutic support.
