Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental illness where people have unwanted and repeating thoughts, and feel like they need to do certain actions over and over. These thoughts and actions can interfere with daily life. People with OCD might know that their thoughts and actions don't make sense, but they still can't stop doing them. Examples of OCD behaviors include washing hands too much, being afraid of germs, hoarding, or needing things to be in a certain order. OCD can range from mild to severe, and if it affects daily activities, it's important to get help.

Benefits of IV Infusions

Three recent reviews have explored the potential of infusions of this safe anaesthetic drug as a treatment for various psychiatric disorders. Two systematic reviews of the literature were conducted in 2021 and 2022 on the use of it in treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). While both reviews found potential for it as a treatment for OCD, the evidence is still limited and inconsistent. Future randomized, placebo-controlled trials are necessary to establish the parameters of its efficacy. Overall, while the potential therapeutic benefits of this infusion are promising, more research is necessary to determine its effectiveness and to identify optimal dosages and administration methods.

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions characterized by a disturbance in eating behaviors, which can include restrictive eating, binge eating, or purging behaviors such as vomiting or laxative use. Eating disorders are not just about food, but also involve underlying emotional and psychological issues such as low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Common types of eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder, among others. These conditions can have serious physical and emotional consequences if left untreated, and may require a multidisciplinary approach involving medical, psychological, and nutritional support.

Benefits of IV Infusions

A narrative review in 2021 explored the potential of this infusion as a treatment for anorexia nervosa. The authors found theoretical support for the use of it in this population, but further research is needed to determine its efficacy.
